Hello, I've posted here before. At least, I'm pretty sure I have.

In any case, I come to you all with what I think is an awesome idea. It'll be kind of like a swap thing, and all of the kinks haven't been worked out yet as it just popped in my head after looking at this.

It's for the artist in all of us! Just by a standard sketch book (not too big or heavy. Shipping kills!) and send it around to all of your pen pals and see what you get. What I was thinking about doing for myself is finding people all over the world who want to participate in this and pass the books around in a "year book" fashion -that is, trading them and then giving them back and sending them out again.

I dunno. If anyone is interested and wants to work the details out with me, I can be reached through PM on here, or through my e-mail: kcord55@gmail.com

Oh, and if this is against the rules, I'm so sorry and feel free to remove it. Sorry!!! and Thank You!!

btw, x-posted like mad.

Name: Sarah
Age: 25
Birthday: December 11, 1984
Gender: Female
Location: Washington, DC
Occupation: paralegal / gradstudent
Languages Spoken: English, German, French (a little French)
Religion: None really, though I minored in Eastern Religions during undergrad and really like them.
Relationship Status: Engaged (will be married in October)
Piercings/tattoos: two holes in each ear, two tiny stars on left elbow (pink and blue), one Charles Rennie McIntosh rose on my left foot

About Me: Basically, I really want to find a great German (or German-speaking) penpal. I studied the language for several years, but that was a long while ago. So, I am very rusty. I am applying to various PhD programs that require language fluency (in any language) with some abilities in Latin too, so I'm striving to really work at my German at the moment. (It is appallingly bad...take mercy on me, someone!)

Main Interests: medieval lit, languages, Celtic mythology (specifically Welsh -- though I'm into the Irish and Scottish too), Old English, Arthurian lit, baking, cooking, vegetarianism (but fish too...long story), fandom (see below), reading, knitting, teaching

Music: I'm not really picky...I have awful taste in music (Spice Girls, anyone?). But I do love opera, Tchaikovsky, Dvorak, and the Beatles ... so don't shoot me.

Books: oh god, where do I begin? The Mabinogi, anything by Stephen Fry, The Lord of the Rings, anything by Terry Pratchett, Mrs. Dalloway, the Sherlock Holmes stories, anything by Wodehouse, P&P, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Beowulf, Medea (Euripides, anyone?), The Penelopiad, The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Klay, A Single Man (so simple...so gorgeous), A Home at the End of the World, Siddharta, anything by Joseph Campbell, um...I could go on forever.

Movies/TV: Star Wars (shut up), Lord of the Rings, Indiana Jones, Love Actually (I have very simple tastes, but I lovelovelove comedy and comedic heroes) / Monty Python, Pushing Daisies, Arrested Development, SGA, BSG, Lost, Community, Merlin, Torchwood, Verbotene Liebe, Red Dwarf, Doctor Who, The Office (UK & US), It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, there are others, I'm sure.

Pen Pal Information:

How many pen pals do you have?: 1

How many do you want?: 2-3 (I can write tons...)

Do you want email pals?: Yes! I currently only have snail mail penpals.

Do you want snail-mail pen pals?: Sure.

How long does it take you to reply to a letter?: A week at most.

Would you like your pen pal to be male or female?: Doesn't matter, but I really want someone I can squee with over fandom nonsense... which typically means female. :D

Age?: 20s-30s (higher or lower too...but it would be nice to get someone in my age group)

What are you looking for in a pen pal? Someone with whom I can practice my German, squee over fandom nonsense, and maybe do package exchanges too.

Where would you like them to be from? Germany (if the person speaks German fluently, I don't really care where they are from)
